On September 7th 2012; Canada, under the stewardship of Prime-Minister Stephen Harper told Iranian diplomats that they had 5 days to get out of his country. And out they went!

The decision is primarily in solidarity with Canadians imprisoned in Iran.

  • Hossen Derakhsan, 35, was sentenced to 19 years in prison for blogging.
  • Ghassemi-Shall, 43, faces a death sentence after being charged with espionage when he returned to visit his family four years ago.
  • Saeed Malekpour, a web programmer from Ontario is on death row after being charged with promoting pornographic websites. He claims that he was tortured into confessing to crimes.
Other reasons:
  • Support for Syrian President Bashar Assad
  • Dishonesty in its dealing with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) on Nuclear Weapons
  • Support of groups such as Hezbollah and Hamas
  • President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's rhetoric directed at Israel

The decision should by the Harper administration should prove the benchmark for other countries and the UN in how to deal with Iran. They are the chief sponsor of terror throughout the world, the most homophobic and intolerant country in the world and they should NOT be allowed to address the world at the U.N. General Assembly this month in New York.

When PM Harper speaks at the U.N he should admonish the world for their failures in dealing with the biggest threat to civilisation since Nazi Germany.
